Mwitongo Lodge has a spanking new swimming pool.
Actually, it never had one before. The swimming pool is an addition to the now almost complete refurbishment of the hotel. Mwitongo Lodge has 12 bedrooms, a restaurant, and provides free Wi-Fi to visitors.
The lodge’s roll out plan will also include spa services.
The owners, Neema and Calogero Drago, established the lodge after relocating to Tanzania. They have lived in Italy and Switzerland for the past three decades. After observing the various cultural, historical, and natural attractions in and near Butiama they decided to establish a hotel to cater for the visiting tourists.
Tanzania’s founding president, Mwalimu Julius Nyerere (1922 – 1999), was born in Butiama. The Mwalimu J.K. Nyerere Museum, located in Butiama, is dedicated to his political and historical legacy. His mausoleum is also in Butiama.
Butiama is a short drive to the Serengeti National Park and to Lake Victoria, thus providing visitors to Butiama bonus attractions.
The Serengeti ecosystem is home to the largest animal migration in the world.
